HUMAN PROCESSORS
As in her earlier work, in her new series with the working title “Human Processors”, Nina Rike Springer (born 1976 in Klagenfurt, works in Vienna) focuses on strict geometrical compositions combined with a dynamic human element as well as on the topic of man and technology, which stands for the central interest of our time. With the help of computer technology, she intervenes into pure and staged photographs and emphasizes the sensible balance between the out-of-joint positions of the represented, anonymous individuals and the ever more virtual environment produced by these figures, the limited space for action within their sphere of influence, their “processors”.
- These are samples from my new series titled “Human Processors,”00:00:18.483
- 00:00:18.483
- it is actually a further development of my earlier work,00:00:25.170
- 00:00:25.170
- which I have put together here in this catalogue.00:00:29.071
- 00:00:29.071
- I always deal with the relationship between the geometrical elements00:00:32.460
- 00:00:32.460
- and the dynamic, human ones.00:00:37.756
- 00:00:37.756
- I also deal with the topic man – technology which has eventually ceased to be interesting.00:00:39.984
- 00:00:39.984
- On the one hand, these processors can stand for software00:00:46.671
- 00:00:46.671
- which connects input with output00:00:52.848
- 00:00:52.848
- or software through which a computer component controls other components.00:00:55.820
- 00:00:55.820
- I find that both fit into my work.00:01:03.622
- 00:01:03.622
- On the one hand what is at stake within these pictures is language00:01:05.944
- 00:01:05.944
- but also the vehicles that carry information to its destination.00:01:09.659
- 00:01:09.659
- And these small works are samples from the big world.00:01:16.114
- 00:01:16.114
- For me these are classic portraits of the humanoid processors.00:01:21.920
- 00:01:21.920
- They are rather peaceful but they have something pugnacious and proud in them.00:01:29.349
- 00:01:29.349
- The source of my ideas comes from observing the world with great attention00:01:35.480
- 00:01:35.480
- and then absorbing all and then it all develops into a line00:01:44.814
- 00:01:44.814
- and ideas come to my mind directly which means that images arise in my head.00:01:49.459
- 00:01:49.459
- At first I quickly draw sketches, drawings, then quickly photo sketches00:01:55.775
- 00:01:55.775
- which I quickly assemble together in the computer.00:02:03.995
- 00:02:03.995
- Then I go to a studio and create the situation with light, colors, and textiles.00:02:06.920
- 00:02:06.920
- Then I also have accessories and then it is nicely photographed again.00:02:15.233
- 00:02:15.233
- And then the actual computer work starts.00:02:20.201
- 00:02:20.201
- when I sit in front of the computer for weeks,in this case fo the whole year,00:02:22.710
- 00:02:22.710
- to put everything together.00:02:28.050
