Na lekci Jiřího Kovandy došlo k drobnému rozčarování některých nepřipravených posluchačů, čímž Jiřímu Kovandovi připravili trochu perné vysvětlování.
Can we start?

"Art Classes 2)"
I thought I would read from my notes that I took about 10 or 15 years ago.
I have notepads where I have my drafts etc.
At that time when I read something interesting I put it down.
It was my first idea.
Nevertheless, at the end, I had to make a new plan.
Finally, I chose the second idea because I thought it would be better.
I will read from the book "Ideas of Modern Artists".
I will organize my reading like this.
I will ask you one by one to say a number from 15 to 485.
You will say the number, I will find the page and read the paragraph on the page.
Please, can you tell me some number?

Modern art has come intuitively and independently
to the same results as modern science.
As well as science it´s taken everything apart to the smallest elements,
to be able to put them together according to the universal rules of nature.
Science and art have reached the same conclusion:
Every form is a stagnant picture of a moment of certain process.
Then a work is a stop in being, not a stagnant aim.
We know works that contain system.
But the system that has become conscious during the creation, not before.
We want to depict an order, the order of nature,
where big tensions keep in harmony horrible rotations of bodies.
Our work is neither philosophy nor a sytem of nature recognition.
It is a part of nature and as such it may be the object of recognition.
It is L. Lisitsky.

It is good that the God is not educated,
that he does not a diploma framed at home
that would say what he can do.
That´s all.

Just the ordinary things enable us to see
the form of simplicity that leads to the recognition of deep substance of being
where the mysterious beauty of art comes from.

Omega´s eyes change.
During normal days they are light blue, but
when she looks at her lover they change into black with carmine marks.
The wishes of Omega are different.
Once Alfa saw her sitting at the riverbank, kissing a burro that was lying on her lap.
Alfa caught an ostrich and leant against his neck.
But Omega didn´t rise her head from her favourite amusement, kissing.
Omega was tired and disappointed
because she couldn´t have all animals on the island.
She sat on grass, and burst in tears.
Then she stood up, and started to run around the island
when she met a wild boar.
She kneed, her body was covered in her plaits,
and she and the wild boar, they watched each other.
I´ve just wanted to say that this is not my idea of art classes.
Pardon?
I´ve just wanted to say that this is not my idea of art classes.
I haven´t been to another classes, but my number is 101.
Neither do I.
It is a way how to explain all modern art history in one class.
I don´t agree.
Neither do I.
I am kidding.
Ok. It is fine. I am drawing here. I am interested in it.
I have no time to read this.
I study Art Education at the Pedagogical Faculty.
I am little bit upset that I don´t see how the art education
could be applied.
I understand what you are saying.
You may be right partly.
I was kidding little bit.
This what I do here, is not meant as a lecture on modern art inspite of its name.
It is kind of game based on arbitrariness.
I think it is more about the approach and the game.
I don´t think that one would learn something fundamental.
However, I don´t say that you can´t learn anything interesting.
I think you are right.
Don´t take it too seriously.
It is a playful attempt how to realize my task.
I don´t like to be involved in your game.
I hoped somebody would protest much earlier.
It is nice that we read here this book,
but everybody can buy it and read it at home.
But we are fifty and we want to get to know something.
So it is important to discuss the text.
We may discuss one paragraph for two hours for instance.
I don´t have anything against it.
I am not a theoretician.
I didn´t want to give lecture on some problems of history of art.
I wanted to play such a game.
I think it is a strange game because of the book. There are no women.
Why have you chosen this book?
Cause I´ve had this book at home.
And it´s come to me.
It doesn´t have any difficult construction of ideas.
It is a kind of impulse or intuition on which base I make decisions.
As I say for the third time.
It is not a lecture and I am not a lecturer of the history or theory of art.
That´s beyond me.
Shall we read or discuss?
We can discuss, read or we can finish.
I am curious what on page 172 is.
We can have a look.
There is František Kupka.
