“Radek Brousil se snaží pro klasickou analogovou fotografii zachovat konceptuální řeč a strategie. Jak naznačuje samotný název výstavy, používá mechanické metody k odlišení jednoho obrazu od druhého. Mění tak nejen podobu a způsob prezentace obrazu, ale skrze ně i jeho význam. Formálně – na této výstavě nejčastěji v rámci diptychů – posunuje obsahy jakoby šlo o hru.”
Good evening dear friends, distinguished guests,
ladies and gentlemen. I would like to introduce to you
the author of this exhibition Radek Brousil. The show is titled,
as you may have noticed, "Untitled 19 - Untitled 21".
A certain sense of being oversaturated with image
leads him to a structural approach; he combines photographs from his archive.
It is about the exploration of the limits of the medium with which I work.
These photographs are layered on each other in collages,
their format is changed, there are sharp cut images.
Parts of photographs are then assembled into new diptychs,
compositions, images, varieties. He uses mathematical
principles of combinatorics. - I deal with combinations
and variations of images. This is the main theme
of this whole corpus, a work-in-progress
which is not yet limited. The curtain is actually...
The photograph of a curtain gives the show a sense of mystery,
a promise of other possibilities, combinations, situations
that must be taking place behind it...
