Výstava predstavuje tvorbu troch autorov ktorý majú spoločné to, že nemajú nič spoločné.Napriek tomu výsladná podoba tvorí jednoliaty celok, ktorý pôsobí skoro ako prezentácia jedného autora.
I kind of got stuck with gallery work.
I didn't want to do it anymore.
But a year ago, I met Alberto
who said he wanted to open a gallery
in Bratislava
and he asked me to introduce to him
the local art scene.
This is a commercial gallery
representing a small group of artists,
including artists of the older generation.
The aim of the gallery
is to enter the international scene,
to find local artists and present them abroad.
We also have other, parallel projects.
One focuses on presenting, not selling,
artists who are already well known
or are represented by other galleries
but we find it important to exhibit them.
Another project, Sputnik Editions,
focuses on publishing activity.
We publish small black-and-white books
that are not exhibition catalogs
but rather self-published magazines
or fanzines,
publications printed in 1000 copies
and created by an artist or a curator.
The selection of artists
was done by the gallery owner,
I had no say in it.
He told me he wanted to exhibit Martin Vongrej
and David as well.
Meanwhile, David has become quite well known,
he's represented by London's Seventeen Gallery.
I met Martin as a student,
we're in the same studio.
I was intrigued by his way of thinking
and talking during the lectures.
His approach
is a very personal and subjective one.
It is driven by an internal logic
but it's a logic of his own.
But I like this kind of misunderstanding
between the viewer and the artist.
Cyril Blažo is another example
of a great artistic personality
who follows his own personal program,
although he's also very popular
because his works are quite communicative.
He exhibits five new works here.
The background of the exhibition
is quite interesting.
Yesterday, David and I had a discussion
about how well all the works match,
it's like they were created by one person.
The whole exhibition can be seen
as a collection of works by a single artist.
There are incredible formal correspondences
between them.
Suddenly the artists start to say
that this or that work could be theirs.
And the same goes for me!
When I hear David talk about his works,
I wish I'd have done them myself!
As for C yril's works, I'd just love to own them.
I didn't want to do it anymore.
