Tamara Moyzes tries not to be too academical in her work, her art is straight-forward imagination – she does not comment upon the reality from afar, she enters the very epicentre of all action. The people in her fictitious documentaries are not actors and their artistic “character” only emphasizes and enlarges their real situation. To uncover the current social controversies, the author uses a mixture of documentary, poetic and funny sequences. But the parody is only a strategy, it does not does not ease the situationv – quite on the contrary – it helps her to present the explosive content in a form that is more acceptable to us.
The thing that repeats in my work
is that I work on the basis of information,
on the basis of real situations.
I am a political artist, but also an activist.
So the sources come from my own activities or newspapers.
Except this real basis, there is a fiction that
helps me to catch the question I would like to express.
I am working on this project.
It contains 8 photos
that were taken by several photographers
or better to say my friends.
One of them is sitting here.
It is Dana Kolářová.
I like to cooperate in my work
because of the possibility of the second view.
Together we took pictures of 8 famous people.
For instance, Aňa Geislerová, Ali Amiri, Tomio Okamura.
In fact, I addressed "foreign" people.
However, they were accepted by the Czech society.
That´s the reason why it is called "Czech Selection".
For a half year I´ve been looking
for the cases of extremism either on the pages of the Home Office
or with the help of other involved organizations.
Every person representing its nation will embody some case.
According to the cases they are scarred.
Fortunately, this is fiction.
Together with Darina Alster
we work on a project called Bianca Braselli.
She met Benedict.
For me it was very important to be in the media.
I appeared in Blesk, Metro and Aha.
The biggest tabloids.
For me as an engaged artist
it is great to appear there. It is kind of public space.
If you compare the numbers of printings with the magazines like Respekt or A2.
It is incredible.
Of course, the comments of this happening is a mess.
It says: "The lesbians got dressed in one dress and etc."
They didn´t understood the whole message.
The fact that the fight for
the reformation of the Church was realized was very important to us.
An article in the magazine Respekt should
appear that would improve our reputation that would inform more on this happening.
"TV_t error" is a pure fiction
when I decided to go to the shopping centre Anděl and asked people
if they think that Romany terrorists could exist?
Do you think that Romanies are discriminated?
Yes, I think so.
Do you think that the Czech Republic is threatened by a terrorist attack?
You mean like that the Romanies would attack us.
Where would they take the money?
So, there is no threat.
I don´t think so.
The majority of the answers showed not only lack of respect, but
also there was total absence of fear that something like this could happen.
This was interesting to me.
I lived in Israel.
I even spent some years of my activism in Palestine.
There is such a mess.
However, I like this kind of near eastern mess.
It doesn´t mean that people are incapable to do such things.
I made 5 videos.
2 of them are pure fictions.
They are replicas of the history of terrorism.
One of them explains how a bomb is made.
It is made on the basis of the video by somebody called The Engineer.
The Israelis managed to kill him.
He made such a video.
It has really changed the situation in Israel
cause since then home made bombs have started to be made.
The bomb should be activated on the spot of assassination.
I hope you are aware of the fact why you want to be killed.
Romanies! Stay with the God!
I created the video Miss Roma together with my friends that are activists.
It is a very simple, short video where Miss Roma 2006
is changed into a white woman with the help
of the professional visagiste Blanka Pešková.
The soundtrack is from the competition.
At the beginning, there is a title
that introduces the political issue.
It says the places where she wasn´t allowed to enter.
I went through it with them.
I was really shocked.
I grew up in Slovakia together with Romany friends.
The Slovaks are racists as well.
However, I have never experienced something like this there.
"Family Happiness"
There were poor families
whose children were taken due the to lack of money.
The civic society "Mutual Coexistence"
and its lawyers help them to get their children back.
I was there when their children came to visit them at the weekends.
I knew that they were going to do a happening in the Parliament.
The families came there.
They brought the photos with them.
The politicians participated as well.
I was inspired by the family photos where the
whole family is caught sitting in a sofa and the faces of
the members that are missing, are cut off.
We did this together.
We were inspired by our nice experience
when Shlomo tried to get here visa.
We spent there ages queueing.
We had to go there together
cause there are lot of aggressive people
and when you need to go to the toilet
it may be problem.
This video was shot on the premises of the Foreign Police Office.
Then they are the scenes with us as bad moderators
that were shot here in this kitchen, in front of our green screen.
