Daisy Richardson’s paintings assert a fictional world, where objects are not justified. Rather there is a dream like order where they have a metaphoric, almost metonymic existence according to the artist’s hypothetical and surreal logic.

One of the three exhibitors in London’s Gooden Gallery, Richardson is showing alongside Andrew Graves and Cath Ferguson. Graves uses the substance, luminosity and thickness of paint to imply the subjective quality of conscious experience, a glimpse of something noticed when passing or a fragment of something seen and remembered.

Ferguson is interested in structure and composition, and by analysing the different ’spatial models’ of paintings by the Renaissance artists Vermeer, Noland and Usle, she has begun to create heterogeneous spaces within her work.
