2010-05-20-exhibition-belgrade-sribar-male_thing-web“The Male Thing”, series of photographs by Boris Sribar, pictured through a new paradigm of masculinity – without masculinity, depraves (negates) the stereotypical macho discourse, where the basic power means active money and an even more active dick.

In this case, the male “tool” is without identity, hidden, invisible, equalized with the female – gino principle, the magical triangle of genesis, female genitals, which distances it from vulgarism and tawdry, through indication, assumption and enigma, it makes it sophisticated and exciting. Thus its ambivalence, asexuality and castrating genderless makes Boris’ Homo Erectus even more engaging and political, as it is clearly connotative towards gender equity and reaching idyllic balance in some others, neglected and yet highly important levels, intellectual and  spiritual.
The other part of the exhibition includes conceptual supermarket, meaning degustation of sweets shaped as a mould of the author’s penis, which contains the necessary touch of brave exhibitionism, anthropophagic obscurity, bizarrity and well-planned audience assault. It is expected that women would be more open towards this sweet challenge, whereas men would smile dimly and refuse the bite offered, but let us give pleasant surprises a chance! This is a wonderful test for homophobes, mediocrities and snobs! I’ll eat it with pleasure.
