“First it controls your mind … then it destroys your body” – this is one of the taglines of David Cronenberg’s Videodrome. The same title was chosen for an exhibition where the curator Aaron Moulton gathered more than twenty artists, among them a few real stars of the visual arts scene, such as Douglas Gordon, Vuc Cosic, Cory Arcangel and others.

Since 8th May the GASK has opened to the public, the second largest gallery in the Czech Republic, which is based in large areas a beautiful baroque buildings of the former Jesuit College in Kutna Hora. For the first gallery season GASK presents a unique exhibition of Emil Filla: artist’s archive, the issue of conceptual art collection of Erste Bank under the name Contact , offers a permanent exhibit collection of 123 and rare medieval illumination with a motif mining and processing of silver, coming directly from Kutna Hora in the 15th century. In operation GASK is the youngest team in the field of art gallery scene.

Is contemporary art a product of fascination with aesthetic objects or a space of knowledge production? In which way does art operate with knowledge in relation to the terrain of academy and science or to media channels of information exchange? Which aesthetic and formal means does it employ in order to establish this specific modus operandi?
Artists are considered as seismographs of the Society. A sensitivity is attributed of them, particularly before any other future issues or problems and detecting changes. At the same time are an artist, like all others, in their daily lives exposed to new requirements.
Exhibition of You! Are you theme? belongs to a series of exhibitions of Intermedia school of professor Milan Knížák. Students responded to the gallery and its current show is the result of a large studio. “Freedom of movement between the media” (defined of Intermediality by Milan Knížák) is natural for students and the studio generaly. The exhibition of portrait paintings spanned across pornographic drawings and conceptual objects and video. An integral part of the exhibition was a three-day students stay and performance of the group Lovely Dolls in the gallery.
Exhibition “Persistence” is devoted to painting after painting of persistence. Eight artists who participate in the “persistence” in various ways equivalent to the challenge of persistence of painting.
