galerie Entrance
Galerie Entrance byla otevřena v květnu 2005 ve vstupním prostoru tehdy nově založených Karlin Studios. Odtud název galerie. Vznikla z iniciativy tří mladých umělkyň, Terezy Severové a Terezy Velíkové a Barbory Zachovalové,a řadí se tedy ke spektru nových nezávislých galerií, jež vznikly v prvním desetiletí 21. století.
Václav Magid, Lenka Vítková, Anežka Hošková, Dan Vlček ad.), kteří ukazují svou tvorbu a hovoří o ní i o konkrétních dílech.

- We founded the gallery in 2005 when Karlín Studios were being established.00:00:09.253
- 00:00:09.253
- We gained the entrance space into the whole building00:00:19.527
- 00:00:19.527
- which gave the Entrance Gallery its name00:00:27.790
- 00:00:27.790
- and which also related to our conception on the whole.00:00:31.912
- 00:00:31.912
- At that time we were finishing our studies00:00:37.115
- 00:00:37.115
- and in May 2005 the Karlín Studios were opened,00:00:40.915
- 00:00:40.915
- we went through a selective procedure, we had to prepare a project,00:00:49.416
- 00:00:49.416
- a conception outline of a year plan, our idea and who we'd like to display.00:00:56.650
- 00:00:56.650
- We went to see Albert about it, our project appealed to him00:01:03.496
- 00:01:03.496
- so he provided us with the space.00:01:06.066
- 00:01:06.066
- It was all different then, there weren't many small galleries00:01:09.299
- 00:01:09.299
- and it wasn't that easy to acquire big spaces.00:01:14.792
- 00:01:14.792
- It wasn't just us, AM and ETC Gallery were also founded at that time,00:01:25.086
- 00:01:25.086
- then 35m2 Gallery, there were many artists who decided to do something00:01:34.293
- 00:01:34.293
- about the lack of exhibition space and to react actively.00:01:41.603
- 00:01:41.603
- We didn't intend to stick to it for ever, we planned to build the gallery00:01:47.976
- 00:01:47.976
- and hand it over to young and promising curators00:01:54.029
- 00:01:54.029
- who would grow up and yearn for it.00:01:57.871
- 00:01:57.871
- And it's been almost eight years and we made about eighty exhibitions...00:02:03.561
- 00:02:03.561
- Ninety, I guess...00:02:09.374
- 00:02:09.374
- Ninety...00:02:11.299
- 00:02:11.299
- We consider ourselves to be main curators of the programme,00:02:13.270
- 00:02:13.270
- but I prefer calling it dramaturgy. As we don't work as typical curators,00:02:20.007
- 00:02:20.007
- we don't go through the whole exhibition with the artists.00:02:26.805
- 00:02:26.805
- We try to participate in the installations as we are concerned of course.00:02:32.553
- 00:02:32.553
- But it always depends on the artist if he cares for our help or not.00:02:36.884
- 00:02:36.884
- Last three years was our selection based on open calls00:02:40.632
- 00:02:40.632
- but we picked and addressed some artists ourselves.00:02:48.535
- 00:02:48.535
- As we wanted to focus on young artists, students and fresh graduates,00:02:55.973
- 00:02:55.973
- we announced an open call that should make people00:03:07.408
- 00:03:07.408
- who aren't naturally in contact with us apply so that we could see more portfolios.00:03:16.012
- 00:03:16.012
- As you know we don't display fresh graduates only,00:03:27.596
- 00:03:27.596
- at least not at the moment.00:03:31.412
- 00:03:31.412
- But we intersperse it with young generation or young at heart00:03:37.612
- 00:03:37.612
- and we try to adjust the programme. But despite the open call there are00:03:46.614
- 00:03:46.614
- many people who joined in and sent their work on the basis00:03:54.109
- 00:03:54.109
- of a private conversation or who we had addressed personally.00:04:02.035
- 00:04:02.035
- When we were establishing the gallery, one of our idealistic ideas was00:04:05.579
- 00:04:05.579
- not to operate within the community only.00:04:13.770
- 00:04:13.770
- The art talk or entrance talk is a simple format that is00:04:19.254
- 00:04:19.254
- common abroad, it's nothing special but the point is that00:04:26.971
- 00:04:26.971
- the artist presents himself and his work in the context of the current exhibition.00:04:34.739
- 00:04:34.739
- We were astonished by positive responses the events had met00:04:41.505
- 00:04:41.505
- not only from people outside the community but also from the ones00:04:48.328
- 00:04:48.328
- who we expected to know all the artists we work with and their work.00:04:54.786
- 00:04:54.786
- That proved we were wrong and that it works a treat.00:05:04.519
- 00:05:04.519
- Many people told me they found interesting to hear the author,00:05:08.882
- 00:05:08.882
- eventhough it's a friend, speaking about his work00:05:20.790
- 00:05:20.790
- as it's not a very common subject of conversation.00:05:24.138
- 00:05:24.138
- 00:05:24.138
- Anežka Hošková doesn't tell me why she made a certain painting00:05:28.696
- 00:05:28.696
- and what made her paint it or about her childhood ideas for example.00:05:31.429
- 00:05:31.429
- Suddenly you learn more about someone you think to know well.00:05:35.655
- 00:05:35.655
- There was an urge for it...00:05:41.529
- 00:05:41.529
- We had a feeling of stagnancy...00:05:43.967
- 00:05:43.967
- Feeling of a dying, headless horse...00:05:51.870
- 00:05:51.870
- We needed to raise...00:05:57.850
- 00:05:57.850
- After six years of our activity in Karlín...00:05:59.575
- 00:05:59.575
- It was seven I guess...00:06:02.991
- 00:06:02.991
- We knew the gallery had to be shifted,00:06:05.916
- 00:06:05.916
- professionalized and revived or closed down.00:06:11.730
- 00:06:11.730
- We apprehended it that fatally at that time.00:06:20.283
- 00:06:20.283
- There was an opportunity to exhibit in another space,00:06:24.084
- 00:06:24.084
- it was a very nice and newly reconstructed orangery00:06:30.277
- 00:06:30.277
- which really shifted us and the flow of new energy appeared...00:06:40.710
- 00:06:40.710
- It provided us with a background we haven't had for a long time,00:06:52.731
- 00:06:52.731
- we have sockets, toilets... It means a step forward for us,00:06:56.028
- 00:06:56.028
- not only the moving itself but also the place change,00:07:06.419
- 00:07:06.419
- with all due respect to Karlín, but the space became exhausted for us00:07:12.665
- 00:07:12.665
- and we suppose if someone else comes there, he may fill00:07:17.814
- 00:07:17.814
- the place with new energy and revive it, but we weren't capable of it anymore...00:07:22.889
