Ich spoločný fotografický pohľad prináša často bizarný inokedy úsmevný, no predovšetkým pravdivý záznam vizuálnej a kultúrnej identity dneška.
- Transformations of Slovakia / Documentary Report00:00:04.948
- 00:00:04.948
- I find this cycle interesting because it’s authored00:00:10.803
- 00:00:10.803
- by two photographers. It creates a good distribution00:00:14.937
- 00:00:14.937
- when mapping such area.00:00:18.951
- 00:00:18.951
- I can’t really imagine this being done by one person.00:00:23.145
- 00:00:23.145
- But from the visual point of view the ways they00:00:26.888
- 00:00:26.888
- approach the photography quite differ.00:00:30.978
- 00:00:30.978
- Boris Németh focuses more on capturing people,00:00:34.534
- 00:00:34.534
- events and situations where there is something00:00:37.960
- 00:00:37.960
- taking place. Ján Viazanička documents00:00:40.914
- 00:00:40.914
- more like traces of human activity in nature,00:00:44.295
- 00:00:44.295
- in city, on street, the traces of what is being left over00:00:47.614
- 00:00:47.614
- by human beings.00:00:52.030
- 00:00:52.030
- So the cycle suddenly presents a kind of00:00:55.527
- 00:00:55.527
- a compact image. At times they, of course,00:00:58.712
- 00:00:58.712
- change their roles, and while I was studying00:01:02.098
- 00:01:02.098
- the pictures as they were being installed,00:01:05.391
- 00:01:05.391
- one of the newest (since some of the presented00:01:08.682
- 00:01:08.682
- photographs were taken as soon as in 2008,00:01:12.121
- 00:01:12.121
- but we have here also works from years 2013 and 2014),00:01:15.720
- 00:01:15.720
- and by the end I was as if unable to tell00:01:18.711
- 00:01:18.711
- the author of photographs. And I believe it can be00:01:22.076
- 00:01:22.076
- inspirational for both of them meaning they are positively00:01:25.322
- 00:01:25.322
- and mutually influenced.00:01:28.314
- 00:01:28.314
- After 2012 we have done the first project;00:01:34.712
- 00:01:34.712
- we did a book by dispersing ourselves all over Slovakia.00:01:38.117
- 00:01:38.117
- Then we sat down and began to put the book together00:01:42.641
- 00:01:42.641
- with a desire to make it interesting.00:01:45.832
- 00:01:45.832
- So we did it in reverse in a way.00:01:48.957
- 00:01:48.957
- Because everybody thinks what exactly should be00:01:52.062
- 00:01:52.062
- photographed and we determined00:01:55.470
- 00:01:55.470
- the whole Slovakia as our goal.00:01:58.720
- 00:01:58.720
- - It is because both of us like to travel,00:02:01.962
- 00:02:01.962
- we like not only the getting to know the country00:02:04.861
- 00:02:04.861
- but also its people who leave their traces there.00:02:08.197
- 00:02:08.197
- It was Ľubo Stacho who taught us this at the Academy of Fine Arts00:02:11.402
- 00:02:11.402
- and Design in Bratislava. We were traveling00:02:14.531
- 00:02:14.531
- all around the Slovakia and that’s what we keep on doing.00:02:17.690
- 00:02:17.690
- We realized back then that even though Slovakia is a small country00:02:20.765
- 00:02:20.765
- we have always lived in, we don’t really know it.00:02:23.809
- 00:02:23.809
- There are so many visually interesting things and people.00:02:27.034
- 00:02:27.034
- It’s probably not us who pick up the theme but the theme itself00:02:30.234
- 00:02:30.234
- picks us up, because we are interested in religion,00:02:33.581
- 00:02:33.581
- folklore and various protests.00:02:36.895
- 00:02:36.895
- We are interested in the country through our lens.00:02:40.112
- 00:02:40.112
- - And it was the first book where the themes crystallized.00:02:44.293
- 00:02:44.293
- The highways I photographed,00:02:48.528
- 00:02:48.528
- the religion; then came the 1150. anniversary00:02:51.925
- 00:02:51.925
- of the Coming of Saints Cyril and Methodius00:02:54.852
- 00:02:54.852
- to Great Moravia and so on. And by parting our ways00:02:58.351
- 00:02:58.351
- we learned that in what way… now we are trying to focus00:03:01.502
- 00:03:01.502
- on one thing for a longer time.00:03:04.591
- 00:03:04.591
- If we were doing the same thing it would be boring.00:03:15.269
- 00:03:15.269
- The fact that is gets mingled is probably something00:03:18.468
- 00:03:18.468
- that is missing elsewhere and that’s probably why00:03:21.642
- 00:03:21.642
- it draws bigger attention.00:03:24.745
