- OK, so this is how I exercise, sometimes...00:00:23.096
- 00:00:23.096
- and when I want to paint, I fold this away,00:00:29.881
- 00:00:29.881
- make it into an easel and I can go painting.00:00:35.416
- 00:00:35.416
- The idea to return to the topic of Venus00:00:54.808
- 00:00:54.808
- originated thanks to this seashell that I got by chance00:01:00.119
- 00:01:00.119
- when walking past the Luxor bookstore, it was in their shopwindow,00:01:05.061
- 00:01:05.061
- I guess because of some book written by a scuba diver,00:01:08.598
- 00:01:08.598
- and I just really wanted this seashell, I liked how pink it was,00:01:13.628
- 00:01:13.628
- so eventually the woman called the diver and said00:01:18.887
- 00:01:18.887
- I can get the seashell if I buy the book.00:01:23.115
- 00:01:23.115
- I like the pink colours…00:01:26.101
- 00:01:26.101
- The way it shines through.00:01:31.607
- 00:01:31.607
- That is no accident, such a thing.00:01:35.838
- 00:01:35.838
- The figure will be somewhere here.00:01:40.735
- 00:01:40.735
- The format is set and if I transferred some photo or drawing onto it,00:01:54.151
- 00:01:54.151
- it would not really work because only this way one can feel how it should fit in.00:01:58.930
- 00:01:58.930
- I don’t care about formally painting something,00:02:06.468
- 00:02:06.468
- or proving that I can paint a photo, draw in a photo,00:02:13.244
- 00:02:13.244
- I don’t really know myself how this painting will turn out.00:02:21.368
- 00:02:21.368
- This painting is the one I became known for the most so far,00:02:37.089
- 00:02:37.089
- and this is my friend, she used to be a model,00:02:44.243
- 00:02:44.243
- well, actually she is still famous today,00:02:47.561
- 00:02:47.561
- and it takes place in the fields above Sázava near Jílové u Prahy,00:02:53.267
- 00:02:53.267
- where we would hang out in the summer,00:03:01.632
- 00:03:01.632
- and to me she was the most beautiful girl in the world,00:03:04.600
- 00:03:04.600
- I was so in love with her.00:03:09.122
- 00:03:09.122
- This is not some sort of celebration of fashion and modern tendencies,00:03:12.510
- 00:03:12.510
- but a nostalgic effort to get back,00:03:23.125
- 00:03:23.125
- bring the women back into the nature00:03:27.499
- 00:03:27.499
- where they belong, into the countryside…00:03:31.412
- 00:03:31.412
- This is a painting called Venus in Blue Jeans,00:03:36.645
- 00:03:36.645
- I met this nice model in the countryside with a dalmatian,00:03:42.045
- 00:03:42.045
- so we agreed to take a couple of photos,00:03:48.166
- 00:03:48.166
- and of course if you take photos of a girl and a dalmatian,00:03:52.850
- 00:03:52.850
- you cannot take a picture of her in the clouds,00:03:57.252
- 00:03:57.252
- but you can paint it…00:03:59.923
- 00:03:59.923
- And with this painting I was thinking,00:04:07.015
- 00:04:07.015
- if I place the seashell behind her and make it bigger,00:04:09.588
- 00:04:09.588
- it can look like sci-fi, a cosmic spaceship00:04:13.159
- 00:04:13.159
- that this alien girl came out of.00:04:17.899
- 00:04:17.899
- And in this painting I'm trying out a new idea, experiment,00:04:30.409
- 00:04:30.409
- using these decorative ornaments in a classic painting,00:04:38.520
- 00:04:38.520
- something that worked well in art nouveau,00:04:48.040
- 00:04:48.040
- somehow I really enjoyed thinking about ways00:04:52.699
- 00:04:52.699
- pure academic painting could progress,00:04:56.432
- 00:04:56.432
- how to enliven it, enhance it.00:05:00.197
- 00:05:00.197
- At first I place the lights in there, that’s obvious…00:05:44.959
- 00:05:44.959
- I will work on one half of the body so I can finish it...00:05:54.081
- 00:05:54.081
- That is my intention, to show how in nature, everything is interconnected,00:06:03.150
- 00:06:03.150
- that even though the colours can be as colorful as they want,00:06:07.364
- 00:06:07.364
- they still originate in nature, they are still normal, connected,00:06:12.676
- 00:06:12.676
- the pink colour in this seashell can be the same00:06:20.681
- 00:06:20.681
- as the pink in a woman if she stands in the right moment in the right place.00:06:22.681
- 00:06:22.681
- Here on the balcony I have the heart I made00:07:09.223
- 00:07:09.223
- in my first year at AVU in Karel Nepraš's studio,00:07:12.474
- 00:07:12.474
- he gave us an assignment, the topic of a parasite,00:07:18.973
- 00:07:18.973
- and because all my life I have been dealing with love,00:07:24.156
- 00:07:24.156
- I thought about a parasite in a heart,00:07:33.724
- 00:07:33.724
- so I made a cupid that plays the harp of the heart.00:07:35.724
- 00:07:35.724
- It’s been twenty years since I made it, 1995...00:07:40.489
- 00:07:40.489
- Who would have thought.00:07:49.705
- 00:07:49.705
- The Elvis of the seventies, when there were emotions, experience in his singing and performance.00:07:51.967
- 00:07:51.967
- Now I had to clean it up here,00:08:02.483
- 00:08:02.483
- because it was a very demanding and dirty work,00:08:06.965
- 00:08:06.965
- to work with clay, make plaster casts,00:08:10.275
- 00:08:10.275
- I moulded all the sculptures here, my brother,00:08:15.242
- 00:08:15.242
- even myself, Elvis, Karel Gott, Aphrodite…00:08:18.935
- 00:08:18.935
- For me personally this classic painting00:08:38.170
- 00:08:38.170
- is not principal for the sentimental reason,00:08:44.549
- 00:08:44.549
- I'm not a fuddy duddy that perceives purely the visual side of it,00:08:54.400
- 00:08:54.400
- but it is really interesting for me as a means of expression,00:08:59.142
- 00:08:59.142
- the best artistic means to express my idea.00:09:14.450
- 00:09:14.450
- But let's go back to the light,00:09:20.202
- 00:09:20.202
- I like these sentimental things that lead me into this delicacy,00:09:25.258
- 00:09:25.258
- I get a very fine impression from it.00:09:33.500
- 00:09:33.500
- For example in this Botič I'm trying to capture a moment that is very fleeting,00:09:36.594
- 00:09:36.594
- for fifteen minutes the crowns of the trees become red in the sun00:09:49.535
- 00:09:49.535
- and then a cloud comes or the sun goes behind the horizon and it goes out.00:09:57.447
- 00:09:57.447
- This is my latest landscape, Botič, painted from photos.00:10:07.213
- 00:10:07.213
- I have a personal relationship to Botič, it is not far away from here,00:10:14.228
- 00:10:14.228
- so it was only about capturing it in this light and paint it.00:10:18.704
- 00:10:18.704
- And this is plein air painting.00:10:25.681
- 00:10:25.681
- Because I have engaged in singing for the last eight years,00:10:38.050
- 00:10:38.050
- it is my love, my passion,00:10:43.511
- 00:10:43.511
- because since I was little I am inclined to good, famous singers00:10:46.537
- 00:10:46.537
- like Elvis, Tom Jones, Gott and so on,00:10:54.238
- 00:10:54.238
- It is my hobby, my escape00:11:00.410
- 00:11:00.410
- when I am tired from work, painting, I go and scream it all out.00:11:09.155
- 00:11:09.155
- I will close the window so we don’t make too much of a show for the street.00:11:20.879
- 00:11:20.879
- So… Let’s try it.00:11:30.675
- 00:11:30.675
- That’s OK…00:12:04.298
- 00:12:04.298
- I record them, download them to my computer and make a video,00:12:12.453
- 00:12:12.453
- use some photos that have some context…00:12:20.341
- 00:12:20.341
- And then put it on Youtube, then on Facebook, and that’s it.00:12:27.921
- 00:12:27.921
- So that's the kind of fun I have.00:12:36.713
- 00:12:36.713
- And then I also started, on top of all of that,00:12:57.454
- 00:12:57.454
- I started boxing, only recreationally,00:13:02.835
- 00:13:02.835
- for me it is a way to relax and also to physically keep in shape00:13:09.050
- 00:13:09.050
- which is more and more important as I grow older.00:13:18.416
