Koridor
Rozpustný koncept architektúry, v ktorom sociálne a priestorové aspekty prevažujú nad stavebnými konštrukciami.
- The exhibition is a part of a longer series by tranzit gallery00:00:00.934
- 00:00:00.934
- that deals with various aspects of architecture.00:00:04.658
- 00:00:04.658
- As suggested by the title the topic of the show is corridor.00:00:08.966
- 00:00:08.966
- Here we have focused especially on social aspects of architecture,00:00:13.081
- 00:00:13.081
- so not as much on architectural elements as on metaphorical interpretations.00:00:17.162
- 00:00:17.162
- Corridor is one of the basic elements of architecture.00:00:27.249
- 00:00:27.249
- It is also something one passes through.00:00:31.286
- 00:00:31.286
- It's a kind of space that transforms one space into another.00:00:37.672
- 00:00:37.672
- It is also a sort of non-space, something in-between.00:00:45.183
- 00:00:45.183
- Currently we are talking about many kinds of corridors:00:00:49.379
- 00:00:49.379
- e.g. economical, migration or railway corridors.00:00:53.402
- 00:00:53.402
- In this sense a corridor can function also as a metaphor00:00:57.639
- 00:00:57.639
- of social relations. We have three projects here.00:01:01.891
- 00:01:01.891
- The first one is by Tomáš Džadoň and Michal Moravčík00:01:05.815
- 00:01:05.815
- with quite a long title but we shall call it Patronka.00:01:09.967
- 00:01:09.967
- During their research the artists have found out00:01:14.023
- 00:01:14.023
- that Igor Rymarenko, the author of this architecture00:01:18.342
- 00:01:18.342
- is also a puppeteering enthusiast.00:01:22.618
- 00:01:22.618
- He also owns a small puppet theatre.00:01:26.900
- 00:01:26.900
- So the artists asked the author and his family00:01:31.093
- 00:01:31.093
- to perform a play in the model of Patronka00:01:35.180
- 00:01:35.180
- and they agreed.00:01:38.572
- 00:01:38.572
- Tomáš Džadoň and Michal Moravčík wrote a play00:01:42.503
- 00:01:42.503
- based on dialogues overheard at Patronka00:01:46.589
- 00:01:46.589
- which they turned into six acts capturing the spirit of the place.00:01:50.595
- 00:01:50.595
- Rymarenko's family performs the play four times during the show.00:01:54.708
- 00:01:54.708
- People hole up there like pigs and then take piss there.00:01:59.927
- 00:01:59.927
- And it stinks terribly.00:02:04.265
- 00:02:04.265
- At least they have placed the newsstand here.00:02:08.493
- 00:02:08.493
- Once in a while I buy small buns here for my little son.00:02:12.181
- 00:02:12.181
- Dominik Lang is a Czech artist who typically works with architecture.00:02:16.062
- 00:02:16.062
- He chose this middle room where he has built00:02:23.308
- 00:02:23.308
- a sort of a real corridor.00:02:27.639
- 00:02:27.639
- His installation connects one room with another.00:02:31.626
- 00:02:31.626
- What we see here is a raster of shelves.00:02:35.015
- 00:02:35.015
- It's a play on absence and presence with an option of a look-through00:02:38.801
- 00:02:38.801
- but also inability to enter the best part of our gallery.00:02:43.423
- 00:02:43.423
- So he basically constructed an obstacle regulating00:02:47.754
- 00:02:47.754
- the movement of visitors in the corridor.00:02:51.832
- 00:02:51.832
- When we look closely we see pieces of clothing.00:02:55.877
- 00:02:55.877
- This is how Dominik Lang works these days with figural motive00:03:00.167
- 00:03:00.167
- though often it is not exactly present.00:03:04.412
- 00:03:04.412
- Here it takes a shape of 15 figures represented by these clothes.00:03:08.585
- 00:03:08.585
- Gio Sumbadze did a project where he too follows up00:03:14.766
- 00:03:14.766
- with his research of Georgian folk architecture.00:03:19.048
- 00:03:19.048
- During his research he used drawings made by his grandfather00:03:23.385
- 00:03:23.385
- who had been architect. This grandfather wanted00:03:27.776
- 00:03:27.776
- to found an ethnological museum which would show various blueprints00:03:31.894
- 00:03:31.894
- and models of houses. Here we have exhibited00:03:35.951
- 00:03:35.951
- models of Georgian folk houses with their cross sections.00:03:40.027
- 00:03:40.027
- We have focused on chimneys or on building and construction00:03:44.512
- 00:03:44.512
- of chimneys which are really peculiar.00:03:48.689
