- I planned to do a series of portraits00:00:11.661
- 00:00:11.661
- of contemporary Slovak visual artists00:00:15.464
- 00:00:15.464
- but I felt it lacked an additional concept00:00:18.973
- 00:00:18.973
- so I tried to bring to the project00:00:23.222
- 00:00:23.222
- some more added value.00:00:26.841
- 00:00:26.841
- I found this added value in the "barter".00:00:29.990
- 00:00:29.990
- The financial aspect was quite important.00:00:35.635
- 00:00:35.635
- I'm not so rich as to be able00:00:39.533
- 00:00:39.533
- to buy works of modern artists,00:00:42.197
- 00:00:42.197
- Slovak or foreign,00:00:45.197
- 00:00:45.197
- I simply can't afford it for now.00:00:49.067
- 00:00:49.067
- So I found a simple solution:00:00:51.872
- 00:00:51.872
- to create the artists' portraits00:00:56.165
- 00:00:56.165
- and try to barter them for their works.00:00:58.723
- 00:00:58.723
- It was all very natural.00:01:01.822
- 00:01:01.822
- I contacted artists whose works I like00:01:04.727
- 00:01:04.727
- and would really buy if I had the money.00:01:08.065
- 00:01:08.065
- Male authors were usually more obliging.00:01:12.484
- 00:01:12.484
- I'd also like to say00:01:15.684
- 00:01:15.684
- that I don't force them to give me00:01:18.253
- 00:01:18.253
- a particular work, I don't get to choose.00:01:20.753
- 00:01:20.753
- I mostly leave it up to the artist,00:01:25.530
- 00:01:25.530
- I let them pick the work for me.00:01:28.469
- 00:01:28.469
- And of course, they have the main say00:01:31.770
- 00:01:31.770
- in the creation of their portraits.00:01:35.217
- 00:01:35.217
- They choose when and where00:01:38.025
- 00:01:38.025
- they will be photographed00:01:40.491
- 00:01:40.491
- and I take some photos,00:01:43.356
- 00:01:43.356
- sometimes just one, other times00:01:45.777
- 00:01:45.777
- we need00:01:48.761
- 00:01:48.761
- 00:01:48.761
- I select the best shots and send them00:01:52.109
- 00:01:52.109
- to the artist who chooses the one00:01:55.425
- 00:01:55.425
- to become the model for the portrait.00:01:58.226
- 00:01:58.226
- I prepared this event with Veronika Šramaty.00:02:09.711
- 00:02:09.711
- She's opening her "Barter Collection"00:02:13.205
- 00:02:13.205
- and I present here three collections00:02:16.502
- 00:02:16.502
- entitled "Mayamay Collections".00:02:19.900
- 00:02:19.900
- We have both successfully finished our PhD00:02:23.644
- 00:02:23.644
- and we wanted to top it off with an event.00:02:28.479
- 00:02:28.479
- The visitors can try on my clothes00:02:33.013
- 00:02:33.013
- because I don't need them anymore,00:02:36.613
- 00:02:36.613
- I've finished my studies00:02:39.802
- 00:02:39.802
- and the things are ready to be worn.00:02:41.968
- 00:02:41.968
- I'll have to tell the people to try them on,00:02:45.854
- 00:02:45.854
- tell them they have the right to do it00:02:49.343
- 00:02:49.343
- and feel good and enjoy the evening.00:02:52.899
