Budou odkazem této generace v paměti města pouze obchodní centra a komplexy kancelářských budov?

- Initiator: Alberto Di Stefano Curator: Milan Mikuláštík00:00:12.063
- 00:00:12.063
- The impulse for the exhibition came with the initiative "For New Prague"00:00:18.906
- 00:00:18.906
- that involved an open letter to the mayor of Prague calling for the change00:00:24.406
- 00:00:24.406
- of established practices connected with the "development" of the city.00:00:29.906

- 00:00:37.419
- to this initiative.00:00:41.271
- 00:00:41.271
- Recently there has been a strong impulse00:00:44.360
- 00:00:44.360
- from the architects at the Academy,00:00:47.860
- 00:00:47.860
- which the exhibition is supposed to introduce00:00:51.676
- 00:00:51.676
- to a larger audience00:00:55.676
- 00:00:55.676
- that should be interested in this issue.00:00:59.053
- 00:00:59.053
- What's the reason for the changes?00:01:02.866
- 00:01:02.866

- 00:01:06.055
- about political changes00:01:09.555
- 00:01:09.555
- but now they're getting more and more upset.00:01:14.536
- 00:01:14.536
- They start to feel00:01:21.417
- 00:01:21.417
- like they've been cheated.00:01:23.917
- 00:01:23.917
- They thought they were building democracy00:01:26.902
- 00:01:26.902
- but ended up in a country ruled by the mafia00:01:30.443
- 00:01:30.443

- What I find very important00:01:53.184
- 00:01:53.184
- is the PRAGUEWATCH initiative.00:01:56.184
- 00:01:56.184
- It's a project that has a website00:01:59.511
- 00:01:59.511
- presenting a map of Prague00:02:02.511
- 00:02:02.511
- that shows developer projects00:02:05.497
- 00:02:05.497
- criticized by the locals or the experts.00:02:08.948
- 00:02:08.948
- It's an open database00:02:12.464
- 00:02:12.464
- inviting the residents to call attention00:02:15.507
- 00:02:15.507
- to controversial projects00:02:19.007
- 00:02:19.007
- that might be planned in their neighborhood.00:02:22.160
- 00:02:22.160
- The address is Praguewatch.cz.00:02:26.074
- 00:02:26.074
- We chose most of the exhibiting artists00:02:40.476
- 00:02:40.476
- in advance.00:02:43.976
- 00:02:43.976
- We didn't manage to make all the artists00:02:47.070
- 00:02:47.070
- create new works especially for this event,00:02:50.570
- 00:02:50.570
- but so it goes.00:02:54.070
- 00:02:54.070
- We couldn't force them to do it,00:02:57.251
- 00:02:57.251
- and especially not on such short notice,00:03:00.251
- 00:03:00.251
- as the exhibition was quite spontaneous.00:03:03.751
- 00:03:03.751
- I don't know if it's obvious00:03:07.251
- 00:03:07.251
- but there was a lot of improvisation involved.00:03:10.251
- 00:03:10.251
- Of course, it's impossible00:03:15.259
- 00:03:15.259
- to sum up all the architectural problems00:03:18.259
- 00:03:18.259
- of Prague in such a short time00:03:21.829
- 00:03:21.829
- so we tried to express the issue00:03:24.930
- 00:03:24.930
- in general terms.00:03:28.430
- 00:03:28.430
- That's why the exhibition00:03:33.405
- 00:03:33.405
- may seem fragmented.00:03:36.405
- 00:03:36.405
- Among the participants are not only architects00:03:38.891
- 00:03:38.891
- but also graffiti artists and others00:03:42.891
- 00:03:42.891
- so there are many different approaches.00:03:46.391
- 00:03:46.391
- I think I have too little information00:03:51.029
- 00:03:51.029
- to be able to recognize the stregths00:03:54.529
- 00:03:54.529
- of the exhibition.00:03:58.029
- 00:03:58.029
- I think it's great to involve people00:04:01.070
- 00:04:01.070
- of various specializations like architects00:04:04.570
- 00:04:04.570
- and conservationists.00:04:08.070
- 00:04:08.070
- The event at the gallery is complemented00:04:10.845
- 00:04:10.845
- by a busy program.00:04:14.400
- 00:04:14.400
- The only problem is the improvised character00:04:17.425
- 00:04:17.425
- of the event, and the organizers00:04:20.925
- 00:04:20.925
- are fully aware of it.00:04:23.925
- 00:04:23.925
- But I really like the whole idea.00:04:26.278
- 00:04:26.278
- It's possible that only like-minded people00:04:30.257
- 00:04:30.257
- will come to see the exhibition00:04:33.757
- 00:04:33.757
- but maybe it's going to appear in the media.00:04:36.486
- 00:04:36.486
- It's another step toward civil society.00:04:40.254
- 00:04:40.254
- I've only just got here00:04:58.659
- 00:04:58.659
- but I like the atmosphere00:05:01.568
- 00:05:01.568
- of architects meeting other artists00:05:04.568
- 00:05:04.568
- because I think that the exhibited artworks00:05:08.433
- 00:05:08.433
- may be easier to understand00:05:11.896
- 00:05:11.896
- for the general public00:05:14.896
- 00:05:14.896
- than the complicated explanations00:05:17.896
- 00:05:17.896
- given by architects.00:05:20.896
