- 00:00:08.154
- My name is Lucie Mičíková00:00:29.794
- 00:00:29.794
- and I'm a student at Ilona Németh's studio00:00:32.794
- 00:00:32.794
- at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design00:00:36.294
- 00:00:36.294
- in Bratislava.00:00:39.794
- 00:00:39.794
- This is my first solo exhibition.00:00:41.921
- 00:00:41.921
- It takes place at the Hotdock gallery00:00:45.176
- 00:00:45.176
- in Bratislava that focuses on young artists00:00:48.490
- 00:00:48.490
- and curators.00:00:51.783
- 00:00:51.783
- The title is "Invisible Cities".00:00:53.961
- 00:00:53.961
- I've worked on this project since 2008.00:00:57.161
- 00:00:57.161
- It consists of drawings of bunkers00:01:01.286
- 00:01:01.286
- made by children00:01:04.786
- 00:01:04.786
- and also adults.00:01:07.364
- 00:01:07.364
- I found out bunkers bear a strong resemblance00:01:12.475
- 00:01:12.475
- to utopian architecture00:01:17.169
- 00:01:17.169
- of the 1930's and 1960's00:01:19.669
- 00:01:19.669
- and also to actual architecture00:01:23.130
- 00:01:23.130
- in the cities.00:01:26.130
- 00:01:26.130
- The project is based on a book00:01:28.521
- 00:01:28.521
- by Italo Calvino written in the 1970's.00:01:31.521
- 00:01:31.521
- The book is about cities and places00:01:35.016
- 00:01:35.016
- that can't be found on any map,00:01:38.615
- 00:01:38.615
- they only remind the narrator00:01:41.640
- 00:01:41.640
- of what he already knows.00:01:44.413
- 00:01:44.413
- So it's about trips to one's memory.00:01:46.640
- 00:01:46.640
- This wall is a sort of bulletin board00:01:50.112
- 00:01:50.112
- with the drawings00:01:53.612
- 00:01:53.612
- and with actual buildings00:01:56.112
- 00:01:56.112
- that remind me of the bunker drawings.00:01:59.112
- 00:01:59.112
- The exhibition also includes a large drawing00:02:05.600
- 00:02:05.600
- showing a city map00:02:11.326
- 00:02:11.326
- I made based on the bunkers00:02:14.432
- 00:02:14.432
- drawn by children.00:02:18.932
- 00:02:18.932
- This is a little different00:02:23.001
- 00:02:23.001
- from what I usually do.00:02:26.001
- 00:02:26.001
- I normally work00:02:29.467
- 00:02:29.467
- with more ephemeral elements00:02:31.967
- 00:02:31.967
- like lights, shadows, and their poetic nature.00:02:34.967
- 00:02:34.967
- But the theme of architecture00:02:39.522
- 00:02:39.522
- has already appeared in my work.00:02:42.522
- 00:02:42.522
- My projects are usually smaller in scope00:02:46.038
- 00:02:46.038
- than this one,00:02:49.415
- 00:02:49.415
- and also simpler,00:02:51.915
- 00:02:51.915
- containing less items.00:02:55.633
- 00:02:55.633
- The exhibition is complemented00:02:58.896
- 00:02:58.896
- by a catalog00:03:01.896
- 00:03:01.896
- published for the occasion.00:03:05.544
- 00:03:05.544
- It contains the drawings00:03:10.140
- 00:03:10.140
- I collected during the two years.00:03:13.140
- 00:03:13.140
- I'd still like this collection to grow00:03:16.203
- 00:03:16.203
- so there will be papers available00:03:19.857
- 00:03:19.857
- during the exhibition and the visitors00:03:22.857
- 00:03:22.857
- will be able to contribute.00:03:26.357
- 00:03:26.357
- The authors of the layout are Jaromír Skácel00:03:29.107
- 00:03:29.107
- and Jakub Samek from the UMPRUM in Prague.00:03:32.857
- 00:03:32.857
- The exhibition includes a bunker00:03:36.413
- 00:03:36.413
- created spontaneously on the spot.00:03:39.413
- 00:03:39.413
- People can flip through the catalogs here00:03:43.107
- 00:03:43.107
- or contribute to my collection of drawings.00:03:46.879
- 00:03:46.879
- When I started the project 2 years ago,00:03:50.947
- 00:03:50.947
- it also involved building the bunkers00:03:54.447
- 00:03:54.447
- so this may be seen as a recurrence.00:03:57.947
- 00:03:57.947
- What is the bunker built of?00:04:02.977
- 00:04:02.977
- Well, things we found at home, blankets,00:04:05.961
- 00:04:05.961
- boxes, armchairs, chairs, and so on.00:04:09.611
- 00:04:09.611
- All right? Wasn't it lame?00:04:18.661
- 00:04:18.661
- No, it was good.00:04:21.967
paráda lucko!!!
