Born in 1955, studied history of art and aesthetics at the Faculty of Philosophy of Charles University (1974-80). He is concerned with history of art in connection with technology, sound art, social context of culture and technology, history of cybernetics, locative media and collaborative community projects.

He initiated and worked on the multimedia project on concepts of depicting and instruments of learning Orbis Pictus Revised for ZKM Karlsruhe (1991-1995). Curator of the programme Mediaartlab at the Soros Center of Contemporary Art (2000-2003). Co-author of the project Periferie (Outskirts), (2004-2006). He maintained the experimental communication network – and Lemurie.TAZ (2000 – 2007). Since 2004 he has worked at the Film and TV School of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague. FAMU. He occasionally publishes and co-operates with the Czech Radio. Since 2008 he has been working as a curator in Gallery Školská 28. Since 2007 he has also taken part in the interdisciplinary project Institute of Intermedia.

In the series of thirteen audio-interviews recorded during the autumn 2013 Johana Švarcová spoke to artists who use in different ways „the non-visual element“ – sound. For some of the artists that she addressed, working with sound, sound art, development of instruments (hardware and software), radio art or sound installations have become their major field of interest. Other artists deal with sound or sound track (e.g. video) in their own specific ways.
