The exhibition “Absence in Record” looks at the possibilities of human observation and its recording. “Absence in Record” is a metaphor for the human inability to physically and mentally comprehend reality, life, knowledge, art.It is a metaphor for empty or invisible places found in all recordings, in archives. It also addresses the possibilities of communication between contemporary art and audiences: The artist does not need the viewer to understand him 100%, to discover the code to his language; in fact, this is the reason why he communicates using visuals that can be read in many different ways. In between readable recordings, there remain enigmatic gaps offering the viewer a sense of excitement… but also disappointment. A recording is a concrete thing with certain pre-arranged rules. Absence tells us that we are faced with something incomprehensible, a never-ending mystery.
