Wannieck Gallery presents two coinciding and interlinking shows, the first by the artist Jan Merta, and the second a series of photographs about Merta, by Lukáš Jasanský and Martin Polák, documenting important places from the artist’s life.

Merta (b.1952) trained at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague from 1981 to 1987. He was one of the leading personalities in the generation of Czech painters who were prevalent in the 1980’s.

Merta has divided his exhibition into four distinct sections, and although he features some older works, the show is more of an acute artistic composition than a retrospective.
