IEPE became quite famous thanks to several performances at the beginning of the 21st century, such as blocking traffic on Hackescher Markt in central Berlin or on Hachiko, the busiest square in Tokyo. In 2002, he gave the world its eighth wonder – the “Berlin Miracle,” a mysterious rain falling down from a tree for a month and a half.
If you are not yet familiar with IEPE, here is our mini-report in which the artist himself explains the background of his most recent action, “Painting Reality,” performed on the occasion of the premiere of the film at the Berlin Kreuzberg Biennale.
The intervention itself took place on April 25, 2010 on Berlin’s Rosenthaler Platz. The lead roles were played by four colors of paint, cyclists, and car drivers.
