In “The Race,” artists Tomáš Džadoň and Valentino Diego work together on a project based on Džadoň’s fascination with the similarity between his vintage German NSU motorcycle and Otakar Švec’s iconic modernist sculpture “Sunbeam” (1924).

For the exhibition, Džadoň and Diego each created their own individual sculptures, shown alongside a replica of “Sunbeam” from the National Gallery in Prague.

In simple terms, the exhibition presents a formal sculpture next to an object sculpture on top of a site-specific sculpture, creating an overall installation that interacts with the gallery space and the audience in a playful and sophisticated manner.
