Artyčok.tv Open Call 2022 results

We are happy to announce the results of this year's Artyčok.tv open call.

In the professional/amateur category, we have decided to support the project of the artist Barbora Kropáčková, in which she deals with the creation of a new mythology for the Ústí nad Labem region and for the landscapes devastated by mining. The project impressed the jury with its complexity - the story, combining well-known heroic sagas and contemporary problems, is created on the basis of work with local communities and families, and is also legible for a wide audience outside the region. In the student category, the jury selected for support the project Znovupršení / Reraining by artist Natália Sýkorová, based on research into drought and the anthropology of weather. Among other things, the project attracted attention with its research focus, where the video will explore the possibilities of a specific technology in connection with the performative approach of the actors based on "small talks" about the weather.

As a part of the open call, we also selected several proposals suitable for longer-term cooperation and the more comprehensive publications of a specific nature. Among them is the project "Road to Qatar" by Samuel Velebný, an artistic critical reflection of the world of professional football in the context of the upcoming World Cup in Qatar, which is accompanied by a number of controversial connections with human rights violations and modern-day slavery. Another selected project by the artists Denisa Langrová and Jana Chmelařová - RAPortáže z LONTU (RAPorts from LONT) - is a committed field research of small towns and the search for "secondary characters" in the rap story, i.e. the audience or beginning creators. The authors' plan is to film interviews with selected individuals, possibly also creating a video clips for their tracks, and confronting themselves with the opinion spectrum of the local rap subculture of a more marginal nature. The third selected project for long-term cooperation is an audiovisual work with the working title "Trash" by Marie Šprincl, which uses the situational material of the theater group D'Epog, which the group collected in the last ten years of its activity and has not yet used for anything.

The Artyčok.tv open call 2022 jury consisted of curators and art theorists Zuzana Janečková, Markéta Mansfieldová, curator and artist Jakub Adamec, and two members of Artyčok.tv editorial board - Tereza Špinková and Janek Rous.

Congratulations to all those who were selected and we look forward to new videos and publications! Many thanks to everyone applied, this year we received a large number of interesting applications from which it was not at all easy to choose, we would like to support as many of them as possible.
