Tracy Featherstone is an american artist, currently in residence at the MeetFactory. Within her works, she focuses on the translation of context across different media.
Her longstanding interest in semiotics is reflects in a constant search for new vocabulary of her own artistic language. In her older work, Featherstone examined the thin line between order and chaos and studied the communication between everyday objects, their use value and visual form. Currently, she focuses on the process of interpreting ideas through visual media, cultural identity and time. Her exhibition project ‘Added Depth’ explores not only objects themselves, but the space between them. Attention is paid to subjectivity surrounding specific information and idiosyncrasies in communication.
Featherstone’s show at Kostka Gallery is the result of Tracy’s her residency stay. She presents several objects inspired by collages put together from randomly captured photographic materials. Instead of stifling the original visual inspiration, she exposes it in juxtaposition with objects, and gives rise to the process of their creation.
