We meet cartoon characters mainly on packaged consumer goods aimed at children. Variously edited photographs predominate at majority of other goods. Television became an important mediator of information about new products at the beginning of the 1960s. It was necessary to separate clearly commercials from ordinary programmes. In 1964 Hoffman drew and filmed a short film Trio. One character from this film appeared three years later in a television broadcast to guard closely the boundary between commercial time and other programmes. The televiewer later named him Mr. Egg.
