HARUN FAROCKI

The central theme of Farocki’s works (which the artist himself most accurately defines as “film essays” or a certain “form of intelligence”) is the process of creation and reproduction of images. Using a specific form of montage, Farocki combines archival film images with his own film footage and commentary. Applying a singular analytical method (inspired by Brecht, Benjamin, Flusser, Eisenstein, Kluge, Godard, and others), he uses film material as a tool for examining both pictorial and social structures.
