HISTOIRE. LIFE WIT(OUT) A GOOD COMMUNIST

Artist Jana Farmanová and writer Michal Hvorecký have created a collaborative acoustic and visual installation, inspired by Žo Langer’s (1912–1990) autobiographical book Convictions: Memories of a Life shared with a Good Communist.

Langer’s book recalls her life in Bratislava after the Second World War and is an open confession of the wife of a good communist who was condemned to prison for 22 years following a political trial in the 1950’s.

Langer’s story is significant for many generations and it is precisely for this reason that it was chosen for the artist’s project. Their aim was not to offer a documentary version but rather a space for reflection.
