GROSS NATIONAL PRODUCT

This exhibition of young visual artists offered a clear message, one far more communicative than the real-life equivalent of the exhibition title. Many of us will never understand art or even ever own it, but contemporary art understands us… and even owns us.

Within today’s consumer society,we are all captives of advertising tricks and subconscious desires, as a result of which we can no longer find our bearings within the onslaught of information (especially visual information). Artists have adopted – both for us and for “them” (we will assume that there exist certain adversaries) – strategies for surviving or for emerging victorious. A pragmatic society can be inspiring, declares exhibition curator Krištof Kintera, himself a compelling artist.
