Ladies Almanack by Djuna Barnes lends it title to this exhibition by Dorit Margreiter, Ines Doujak and Katrina Daschner at tranzitdisplay. The book about a predominantly lesbian circle in Paris in the late 1920s builds a parenthesis for the show.
The exhibited works deal in part with themes of sexuality, although this does not entirely make up their content. The artist’s practices differ greatly but are brought together by their shares structural approach, critically questioning the orders determining the social aspects of our lives, our culture and our politics.
