Young Taiwanese artist, Su Meng-Hung, presents his first solo show in Tina Keng Gallery. His works include paintings, silkscreen prints, installations and sculptures, with a reference to traditional Chinese art running through them all as a common thread.
Meng-Hung subverts the imagery of flowers and birds, taken from late Qing-Dynasty paintings, transforming them into gaudy and grandiose visual icons.
His work also references the paintings of Giuseppe Castiglione, the Italian artist who came to China in 1715, famous for such works as Barn Swallow and Green Peach Blossom.
