“Subversive Excerpts” looks at experimental and conceptual art practices established under the influence of military dictatorships and communist regimes in Europe and South America from the 1960s to the 1980s.
The focus of the show is on artistic practices that not only radically question conventional concepts of art as an institution and the relationship between art and the public, but that at the same time manage to subversively thwart the structures of censorship and oppose the existing systems of power.
