The Traces exhibition, taking place as part of the Festival Funkeho Kolín, presents the work of several Czech, on the most part young artists. Their joint theme is the creation of ‘aleatoric’ recordings, that is, a recording of a physical event onto a 2D surface.
By the means of many different media, such as photography, photogram, or drawing they record the course of an event onto paper. The exhibited works bear a similarity to diagrams, or traces.
The curatorial project is also addressing the question of the artist’s role in the creative act, since in this case the artist’s involvement is limited to merely assisting the conditions that create the image.
