Barter Collection by Veronika Šramatyová consists of a series of photorealistic portraits depicting contemporary Slovak artists. The artist employs the demanding technique of gouache and subsequently barters her paintings for works of the portrayed artists.
An important aspect of the project is the effort of the author to build her own art collection of contemporary Slovak artworks by trading her works for the works of other artists. Since the project is still open, the author admits the possibility of future collaboration with foreign artists.
Many exchanges have taken place since 2005, and not only with the authors of the young generation, but also with renowned contemporary Slovak artists such as Daniel Fischer, Erik Binder, and Marcel Mališ.
