The XYZ group constitutes the creative activities of Milan Tittel (b. 1966) and Matej Gavula (b. 1972) who have been acting under the name since 1997. Both artists, originally sculptors, have adopted an interdisciplinary practice of conceptual minimalism.
They submit their practice to constant verification, endeavouring to apply an authentic artistic experience, which they often serve in its raw state to the viewer. The hybrid nature of their artistic activity spans ephemeral, non-stabile, fragile situations often seemingly on the edge of evaporation.
They appeal to the viewer to actively participate in the work in an attempt to rid them of conventional modes of behaviour and awaken their intuition.
