Arrived, Seen And Gone

Murshida Arzu Alpana, this Bengali artist is presently a recipient of the creative scholarship at MeetFactory. Touched by the uniqueness of the city, she has created drawings and paintings reflecting her encounter with the Central European metropolis and its culture. Alpana‘s paintings offer a mixture of visualization characteristic of Asia where, for instance, hand-decorated garments even today serve as a kind of public mobile „frameless“ painting. The current series of paintings forms a travelogue of sorts, a composition of Western European civilization layered together with elements of Islamic caligraphic traditions. Matěj Smrkovský, young Czech author presents his latest drawings and paintings inspired by postcards, collages, where intentional naiveté quietly tilts toward chilling reflection of the adult author.
