GASK Artfest

For ten summer days Kutná Hora opened its gates to the first year of the GASK Artfest festival.

The attractive multigenre programme was held in the courtyard of the Jesuit College close to the Gothic Cathedral of St. Barbora, and the streets and squares of the ancient town. The festival was a feast not only for devotees of the alternative music scene, but also for lovers of film and contemporary fine art. The festival organiser – GASK / The Central Bohemian Gallery – presents a progressive segment of visual and musical culture in an imaginative and carefully thought out programme as the best possible invitation not quite a year before it will open in the Jesuit College in May 2010.

PLACE AND FORMULA
A series of performances and visual interventions offers unexpected events and meetings that in the setting of magical, historically unique Kutná Hora may seem like apparitions t to chance passers-by and residents. The curator of the project and the ten invited artists will shift, enhance, and “undermine” the everyday and ordinary.

SUMMER CINEMA
You could spend three summer evenings in the courtyard of the Jesuit College enjoying films at an open air cinema set up for the purpose, admission free. Three film evenings each differently conceived, three views, three forms of reflection on society and its social and ideological functions, on emotions and desires to get to know the surrounding world.

CREEPY TEEPEE

An open air podium was set up in the courtyard of the Jesuit College where over six days in a programme planned by the arts collective A.M.180 a series of remarkable names from the alternative scene abroad will be appearing with Czech bands and musicians.
