“University of Karl von Drais would like to invite you on Sunday 15th May at 12 for an afternoon adventurous architectonic orienteering bicycle ride with Osama Okamura, an architect and a an editor of an architectonic magazine ERA21.”
In title role: landscape to the south of Prague, along Berounka river with houses and buildings by excellent architects such as Atelier 8000, Václav Kolátor, Barbora Rossi+Jan Mrázek+Josef Šanda, A69, Josef Pleskot+Radek Lampa, Karel Stráník, Martin Rajniš, Markéta Cajthamlová+Lev Lauermann, Miloš Hořejš+Karel Štipl, Jan Kotěra, Jan Jehlík, Michal Sborwitz, Lábus AA, studio Klanc, Roman Koucký architectonic office, Atelier.., Lev Krča+Stanislav Tobek+Hana Kučerová-Záveská, ov-a, SAD, Schaufler-Roskovec, Kamila Amblerová, Šafer-Hájek, Fránek Architects, ksa, GRIDO and others…
Attention: intermediate level of difficulty with many cambers (!). Road or city bicycle with certain limitations, along Berounka from Radotín to Černošice there is an unpaved road for about 3 km and from Vonoklasy there is a steep way down a stony road through a forest about 2 km (!) – so the road and city bike will have to be led. Otherwise 95 percent of the route is mainly on asphalt roads – about 20-25 km and minimally on paved roads – about 1 km. More appropriate would be a universal mountain or a trekking bike with a derailleur owing to the terrain and five steep hills. The rule is that the best villas with an exclusive view are always on the top of a hill which is right opposite and preferably across a river. The pace will be leisure (I am not a racer and this Sunday together with my 13-year-old nephew we completed the route despite getting lost many times and having lunch in less than 7 hours). Therefore I reckon on 7 hours of ride without wandering around including experiencing the landscape, architecture and short pit stops. We will pass following train stops from which you can return back to Prague: Velká Chuchle, Radotín, Černošice, Dobřichovice, Všenory and finally Černošice again. For those, who will persevere to the very end, there will be a special bonus at 6 p. m. I recommend some food and a enough water, we are not going to stop in every pub on the way and of course a bike helmet. Everyone rides at his own risk and I assume that everyone will respect the traffic rules, although most of the route goes along cyclopaths and minor roads.
