WHAT COMES FROM OUTSIDE IS REINFORCED FROM WITHIN

Enrique Ježik’s works stem from conceptual premises based on his investigation of institutionalized forms of violence. He concentrates on issues such as migration, security, rationalization, and the representation of war.

In order to deal with these issues, he uses different methods and media, from drawings and sculptural installations to video and action performances. Most of Ježik’s sculptural installations and performances carry social-critical overtones and are often politically engaged. He contrasts machines with their functions, uses heavy construction machinery to pit them against each other in stylized duels, and uses the same approach to confront guns with various materials.

WHAT COMES FROM OUTSIDE IS REINFORCED FROM WITHIN
By imitating the gestures of objects and things that are already in the gallery space; by slowing down, pausing, lingering, alighting, unwinding... through these actions we can escape the entrenched trajectories we found ourselves on in the morning, rid ourselves momentarily of what we have already become, so that we can lose ourselves in thoughts of what we might be.
