The mini-symposium “Bauhaus and Functionalism” examines the reception and interpretation of the emergence of Functionalism in Czechoslovakia in the interwar period and connections with Bauhaus in Germany. The leading theorist of the modernist avant-garde Karel Teige and his teaching at the Bauhaus are ideal examples of networking between these countries.
The protagonists of Sikora’s similes are trivial animals, plants and mundane elements of material world in their simple state of being. He takes interest in marginal and repressed social phenomena and thinks about them visually.
Ponomarevová Daniela
In her project DELTA Plan, Daniela Ponomarevová constructs and subsequently deconstructs a post-apocalyptic story responding to the current state of civilization. At the heart of this dystopian narrative is the presumed demise of Earth, which has become nothing more than a testing ground, a temporary refuge for humanity, which is inevitably awaiting destruction by a giant asteroid. The author opens up this fictional future scenario through a series of objects installed in the immersive environment of a supposed laboratory and a text-and-image document.
