We find ourselves in a time when we have been expelled from public spaces and locked ourselves away in private ones. Our apartments or rooms have become our refuge, our bunker, our hiding place. We have reduced our movements on the streets to a minimum, and every walk has become a celebration. We pass windows and try to catch a glimpse of the lives of the people behind them. We spy on hidden worlds and hope to see something that will lift us up, excite us, stimulate us. In shop windows, we examine our own reflections, other people's stories, but also the street behind us. Who is looking and who is being watched at that moment? The shop window as a locked but still open space. Within reach, but whose world cannot be touched through the thick glass. A different kind of intimacy in a world where touch has become dangerous." We believe that the possibilities for exhibition in a space that we now use only for commuting to work or shopping are limitless and constantly evolving.
We took works from galleries and placed them in the context of shop windows, whose primary function is to offer and sell. However, many shop windows are currently unable to fulfill their function under the current measures. Artists and businesses are on the brink of extinction. These worlds have therefore come together.
