JCHA 2014 - 555 - A Day with Yerba

The second stop of the accompanying project 555 will take place on June 10 in Brno where Martin Kohout, a Czech artist resident in Berlin, will introduce his work. Martin Kohout studied cinematography at the Prague Film and TV School of the Academy of Performing Arts and later in Berlin. His multimedia work responds to different situations in life, to the difficulty to grasp the present world and the inability to find one´s way in it. Kohout´s principal theme is the internet and self-reflection within global communication which brings contradictory experience – understanding as well as aggression, self-confidence as well as helplessness. However, Kohout keeps an ironic distance from his topics and even from himself. In the past he participated for example in the Youtube Play Biennal, where his video was chosen among the 25 best videos out of the 23 000 videos submitted and was consequently shown at the Guggenheim Museum in New York.

The new project is called Fermented Garden 107 and the artist will introduce his project in front of the building of the Governor´s Palace of the Moravian Gallery in Brno at 5 p.m. The viewers will become wittnesses and participants of an art performance with five taxis.
