MARK THER: "OUR GERMANS"

The traumas of the Second World War form a frequent subject matter in Mark Ther’s work. He likes to make visible various taboos through ironic, ambiguous, yet shocking images. One of the traumas is the removal of Germans from Sudetenland after the war. Rather than extravagant, in this case Ther’s approach is much more “scientific”. He has gathered recordings of witnesses, maps, and other documents to show that certain historical moments still remain repressed waiting to be worked through.
