The exhibition project Come Over When You’re Sober is the second work in the series Becoming a Girl, which focuses on the figure of the (young) girl as encountered in the works of Tiqqun (1999), Deleuze and Guattari (1980), and Witold Gombrowicz (1937). The aim of the series is to present the figure of the young girl as a conscious and unintentional guide in confronting the difficulties of today's world, against the backdrop of the work of a young generation of Czech artists. The figure of the young girl bears witness to problems such as self-identification, the perverse pressure on our body image, consumerism, apathy, "pseudo-activity," and the inability to face current challenges. Her existence can be traced in the lives of artists themselves, in the presentation of their works, or in the online sharing of images of themselves. We encounter the forms, gestures, plots, and folds of young girls not only in targeted work with their own experiences, bodies, performances, or self-portraits, but also in the necessary self-presentation and self-performative strategies that artists use outside of creative production. Since these activities are closely linked to social life on the internet, we also ask about the position in which the real human body finds itself after part of its identity has been separated from it. We are interested in how technicality and the biology of emotions creep into this algorithm-controlled process, and how the awareness that adrenaline, dopamine, serotonin, and oxytocin constitute all our emotions from a biological point of view is reflected in the form of our identities. Where does the power to "curate" our identity through the care of our avatar lead us, and what exactly are we substituting by "curating" our (body-imprisoned) emotions through narcotics?
