Journal of (dis)satisfactions

A call To cultural workers, artists and whom else this may concern

On the occasion of the exhibition in Prague at Ferdinand Baumann Gallery, we address all interested colleagues to join the attempt to articulate our principal (dis)satisfactions coming out from our status of cultural workers/producers of cultural contents today, in the form of a short declaration, text, image, whatever you find appropriate. Please consider to send what you already have written/done or contribute with the most simple gesture, text, image. The idea is NOT to burden anyone with extra (unpaid) work, but still to gather possible contributions to draw a sketch of where we are standing right now as art workers and what is to be done, if anything.. We would like to exhibit a map of reasons why are we doing what we are doing (as producers of art/disseminators of culture) and what is bothering us, once again.

Why do we do this?

– to investigate and act upon the underlying politics of the art world – to create new alliances – to think how to improve the everyday working conditions of art workers – to create a growing archive of (dis)satisfactions online – unlike with the classic art space, the location of the vitrine in public space allows a display of the collected concerns to a non-selective audience.

A key element of their art practice is a text, written “off the page”. With words and sentences artists give titles to the places to reveal what is invisible. Duo are founders of the museum on call – Museum of Contemporary Art Tbilisi. Recently they have founded platform of words – Frequently asked questions – that involves all kinds of text-related formats.
