Not so much...

“In the life of a solo performer a duet is always welcome. Where we take these ideas will be the adventure; not what you are doing but how you feel about what you are doing.” (William Hunt, December 2012)

William Hunt was born in London in 1977 and graduated from Goldsmiths College in 2005. He currently lives and works in Düsseldorf. William Hunt’s work often involves performances in which he plays acoustic music under extreme physical conditions. As in most of his performances, comic and tragic elements play an important role, as does the demand for a high degree of physical exertion.

Marilyn Monroe comes back to life in the form of her frisky doppelganger. According to David, the slowed-down Arabic music that accompanies the video is “a kind of willful act, an Arabesque, perhaps like that ficus tree or whatever that thing is behind ‘Marilyn’, or like the naïve movements of her hands and body.” It can also be interpreted as a counterpoint highlighting the contrast between our view of woman and the Muslim view.
