Nutnost pro komunitní soužití

The Necessity for Community Coexistence event brought together four seemingly disparate communities or collectives - tranzit.cz, SVĚTOVA 1, the Obora Women's Collective and sam83 - who share the values of care to make everyday reality more bearable.

At the beginning, there was an art lecture by Sucker Sam, in which the artist presented the general principles of her work and the current exhibition I Promise at SVĚTOVA 1, along with a screening of documentation of the preparations for the exhibition. The ensuing discussion introduced alliances as the essence of living and focused on basic needs, what we all have in common; the relationships and principles by which we observe and define our surroundings. How do we create our own conceptions of family and how can these family forms clash and help each other? What can be a collective strategy for survival in a world of uncertainty?

A discussion of the exhibition I Promise Myself with video excerpts from the preparations for the exhibition took place on 5 April 2025 in the Palm Off studio space of the Divadlo pod Palmovkou.

Nutnost pro komunitní soužití
For over a century, the factory in Střekov has influenced the structure of the city and the quality of life of its inhabitants. During the period of industrial development, Johann Schicht and his descendants built civic amenities in the city – a health center, spas, nurseries, a library, and residential buildings for their workers. After the company was nationalized, production continued and continued to employ a large number of newly settled residents. The national company Setuza also brought its employees together and enabled them to participate in "extracurricular activities," primarily in events organized by the Revolutionary Trade Union Movement, which included the organization of International Women's Day celebrations, St. Nicholas Day gifts, and children's camps.
