Interviews about sound 03 - Pavel Sterec

Pavel Sterec usually thinks about his work for a long period of time. He combines in different ways performance art, objects, installations, photographs and other media. His work revolves around issues related to research, science, museums and archives, social structures or dependence on material or symbolic capital. Pavel Sterec belongs to artists who express themselves through social environment and its semantic and metaphorical potential. In the text of his thesis he says: „I experiment on a small scale with social engineering as with an artistic process.“

In the series of thirteen audio-interviews recorded during the autumn 2013 Johana Švarcová spoke to artists who use in different ways „the non-visual element“ – sound. For some of the artists that she addressed, working with sound, sound art, development of instruments (hardware and software), radio art or sound installations have become their major field of interest. Other artists deal with sound or sound track (e.g. video) in their own specific ways.

Interviews about sound 03 - Pavel Sterec
The number of fields and trends Tomáš Uhnák devotes his attention to is misleading. In reality we can discover intersections and a „specialization“ of its kind, which is based on „expert generalism“, to use his own term. In other words in an effort aimed at intentional, conscious generalization and interconnection of different fields of interest. This is connected with constant negotiating related to the organization of different regimes of changing the world.
