25 Words per Second

Tomáš Svoboda (b. 1974) is showing his output from the last few years, relating to his longtime concern with multiple choices in the narration of a single story. He offers a wide scope of alternative interpretations in approaching an event, leaving the process of reconstructing the event up to the spectator´s imagination. Svoboda tackles the problems of the simultaneous intersection of several different temporal planes, and of the correlation between the immediate experience and memory. The exhibition 25 Words per Second deals with the simultaneous appeal of text and image, and the use of cinematic language there where it overlaps the boundaries of its usual terrain.

25 Words per Second
While profit rules and quick information flow is raping minds it’s difficult to define its role. Represented works show two different, parallel lines. One of them is a line of contemporary art which critically relates to a society, directly pointing to the problems and raising questions. And the other one is orientated to the internal logic of creative act, telling stories by means of formal features of used media.
