TOTART have been working on their project “Exploring the essence of art in connection to art and life” since the late 1970s.

The aim of the project is to understand art, criticize art through art itself and explore the border between life and art as well as the possibilities of their overlapping.
Political opinions of an artist are by no means formed by his or her commitment to a political party but primarily by his or her creative work and by every creative reaction to present challenges. We agree with Jean-Luc Godard´s statement: “Doing art politically – not making political art” and to transform the feminist slogan “Art is politics.”.

TOTART
Conceptualized by Zbyněk Baladrán, Vít Bohal, Dustin Breitling and Václav Janoščík, the conference brings together theorists, artists and organizers who collaborate and elaborate on their visions in order to discover junctures of overlap for thinking about the emancipatory potentials of the future.
