ELECTRICAL DISCHARGES OPEN MULTIPLACE FESTIVAL – multimedia performance POWEr by the Canadian group Artificial , which is also the official opening of the 9th festival of arts and culture of new media Multiplace in Bratislava.
For the ninth consecutive year that an international networking event takes place gradually in several European cities, where it was always prepared by local organizers. This year the art and new technologies have the audience except Bratislava in Brno, Trnava and Prešov. POWEr, Festival Opening performance is impressive audio-visual show of the Canadian duo Artificial (Alexandre Burton – Julien Roy), based on electro-discharge voltage. As light and sound generator is used an electrical device called Tesla coil. Artists scan lightning video in real-time signal processing in the form of projections. Fascinating demonstration of strength and beauty of power here creates an experience halfway between installation and a concert, thus overcoming the boundaries between science, technology and art. Technologically extremely difficult presentation has been ordered for 10th Montreal festival of electronic music and multimedia art Muteki. Bratislava is not only the first appearance in Slovakia, but even in Central Europe – yet viewers could see POWEr only at few festivals like Transmediale Berlin, or the AV Festival England Newcastle.
